The CD ROM uses your web browser (no Web connection needed) to access a database of bird sounds (more than 100 species). Recorded here in the Willamette Valley, local dialects and call notes are captured which are not found on North American or Western Regional collections.
The CD ROM has a list of species opens in your web browser. It cannot play on your stereo like an audio CD. There are no tracks like an audio CD and it is fully interactive. Birds are organized in groups. Each group has a list of species and under each species is a list of individual bird sound files. You click on each sound file, usually designated as a call or song, to hear it played by your computer's speakers. Only one bird sound plays at a time and by actively clicking on each one. The sounds will not play if your web browser is not set up to play "wav" files. Many computers sold today can.
