Come learn or share your knowledge about nature in the Willamette Valley. We look at birds, flowers, animal tracks and all kinds of other things. Our nature walks are slow-paced and casually structured. Bring along a hat, rain gear and shoes that can get muddy. Binoculars are always advised. Please, no dogs. Activities are geared toward adults but children may enjoy them too. Every third Sunday of each month.
(see article "Weathering the outdoors in comfort")

Bad weather: Rain, snow or cold will not prevent us from going out and enjoying nature. Remember to dress for the rainy and/or cold weather.

All trips meet at Avery Park Rose Garden: 1210 SW Avery Dr., Corvallis.

3rd Sunday of each month, 9am-Noon
June 20 - July 18 - Aug 15 - Sept 19 - Oct 17 - Nov 21 - Dec 19

Bicycle Birding

Free

an Audubon Society of Corvallis sponsored trip

Come out and enjoy life and birding at a human pace. By “going green” and foregoing the automobile for a birding trip, you won’t be sacrificing your potential bird encounters. I like to think of bicycle birding as high-density birding. When you’re driving down the highway, you’re whizzing by hundreds of birds without seeing or hearing them. While bicycle birding, we won’t miss anything, and we’ll be covering more ground than hiking.

Last Sunday of each month. 9am - Noon.

June 27, July 25, August 29 and September 26
Meet at Avery Park Rose Garden: 1210 SW Avery Drive in Corvallis.

Trips are free. Bring a bicycle helmet, water and binoculars. We ride slowly, listen for birds and stop frequently. Trip lengths are usually less than 10 miles. For more information, contact Don Boucher, 541-753-7689, bouchdon[at}peak.org

Dragonfly & Damselfly Afternoon

damselfy

Saturday, August 14, 3:00-4:30PM

Free

Meet us at the Bruce Starker Arts Park parking lot (near duck pond and amphitheater).
A variety of dragonflies and damselflies fight, mate and hunt over the beaver ponds at nearby Sunset Park. We'll identify as many as we can, and just sit back and enjoy watching the dramatic spectacle.
This may be a very warm afternoon. Please bring binoculars, sunscreen and mosquito repellent just in case. Bring a lawn chair if you'd like, even an umbrella for a sun shade. Cold drinks will be provided.

please RSVP

Bat Night

bat

Saturday, September 18, 7:00-8:30PM

Free

Meet us at the Bruce Starker Arts Park parking lot (near duck pond and amphitheater).
Lots of bats hunt over the duck pond and wetlands at Starker and Sunset Parks. We'll use a bat detector to convert the bats' sonar to audible clicks, and a spotlight to get a look at their aerial acrobatics.
Please bring binoculars and an extra layer to wear as the evening gets cooler.

please RSVP
